4 Star Rating The best Anno title so far
By: Bev Vincent, on September 4, 2012
    Pros:
    Cons:

"The Anno series is highly acclaimed, and for good reason. They've consistently made outstanding economy based RTS games that balance detailed resource management and strategic gameplay with open-endedness and replay value. For those who are new to the Anno games, the basic idea is you start off as a sort of colonialist, with the aim to build a thriving civilization across a set of islands. Your civilizations start off with lower class citizens (workers or assistants in Anno 2070, depending on...

4 Star Rating A pretty game to relax with
By: Howard Cooper, on May 22, 2012

    Cons:

"Anno 1404 Gold is the original 1404 game plus the Vegood add-on. It can be played in two ways, a campaign which is essentially a really long tutorial or as a sandbox which is totally open ended. Its a truly lovely looking game with fine textures and lighting effects. The premise is simple, settle an island and make things. Then settle another island and make more things! As your society progresses different classes of folk will move in. Your basic peasants are happy with a fish supper and...

4 Star Rating Got to be patient - but worth it....

"First of all, I completely agree with the previous review, regards lack of half-decent manual. Many times I found myself referring back to the web to get instructions, hints and general game info. There's an Anno Wiki but why should we have to go there? The in-game tutorials are OK but you miss out on some of the more finer detail - often vital to the game.

Aside from that, the game is huge & varied. Graphics are great and I love it. I was a big fan of Age of Empires III and regarded...

    5 Star Rating Good expansion
By: Tech 2.0 "impulsive gadget buyer", on March 6, 2010
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I'm glad Ubisoft haven't just done a hit and run and continue to release patches and expansions for what is an excellent game! Patch 1.2 now available and as mentioned in my Anno 1404 review patch 1.1 removed the drm and need for disc in drive. Though the expansion re-adds the drm.

    There's added scenarios;

There are new buildings, the Bailiwick is well useful, it's an "accounting/command" building which cuts maintenence costs & brings the control of all buildings in a...

    Pros:
    Cons:

"I'm a big fan of RTSs and their ilk, and have long been disappointed by the lack of application by games creators in making them for the more advanced consoles - Populous on the Sega Master System proved it could be done, and done well, years and years ago, and yet largely its a gaming style that gets overlooked on consoles in favour of whizz-bang first person shooters.
Thankfully, that is not the case any more! This absorbing little game strikes a perfect balance between cartoony fun and...
