  • The next evolution in gaming is upon us. From the mind of Will Wright the creator of The Sims comes SPORE an epic journey that takes you from the origin and evolution of life through the development of civilization and t.......from Gameseek
  • Take complete control of your creature's fate as you guide it through the following six evolutionary phases:. Tidepool phase: Fight with other creatures and consume them to adjust the form and abilities of your creature. It's survival of the fittest at the most microscopic level. Creature phase: Venture onto dry land and help your creature learn and evolve with forays away from your safe haven. Carnivore or Herbivore? Social or Independent? The choice is yours. Tribal phase: Instead of controlling an individual creature, you are now caring for an entire tribe of your genetic craftwork. Give them tools and guide their interactions as you slowly upgrade their state of existence. City phase: Bring your creatures' race into a new golden era by building up the technology, architecture, and infrastructure of their city. Civilization phase: Once your city is established, your creatures begin seeking out and interacting with other cultures. You can have them do so with an olive branch or a war cry either way, the goal for your creatures is to unify the planet. Space phase: The time has come to move on to other worlds in your solar system. Make first-contact, colonize, or terraform, then venture further to find other solar systems scattered throughout a magnificently rendered galaxy. A 'mission' structure provides new goals and paths to follow as you begin to spread through the universe. A suite of flexible, intuitive creation tools leverages the creative imagination of the player. Creating an entire universe of creatures, plants, buildings, vehicles and planets has never been so easy or so fun. An infinite variety of design choices is just the beginning. The world you explore is populated with creatures, plants, buildings and vehicles developed by other gamers and downloaded from a central database. The server chooses creatures and civilizations that best match your chosen environment, your experience level, and your creature's ability. In turn, your creatures are uploaded to the server to be shared with other gamers. With procedural animation, your creatures and vehicles move based on how you construct them. They behave and interact based on your input and by their in-game encounters. That means there's no pre-determined path you must follow the game evolves based on your decisions. Wonder what another gamer was thinking when they created and evolved a creature? "My son kept going on and on about this game, to be honest l didn't have a clue. I read the reviews, looked at videos on utube. Made sure it was suitable and then got the game for a bargin price. It works fine on windows ten, my son has been playing it non stop since it arrived and nothing about the game is cause for concern. Great game.

"EA Have a Special Place in Hell Reserved for Them

I never bothered reviewing this game on release as after a couple days I kind of wanted to forget it ever existed. I should have got a refund I suppose. I lied to myself and thought it would get better as they patched it. As it became clear however that all they wanted to do was sell expansion packs it disappeared into a dusty drawer and never resurfaced. It is quite sad actually.

The game looked quite excellent in the run...

"I lost my first copy, years ago, but recently had a sudden urge to play again. Great game! I usually enjoy EA's games. It's a fantastic concept & the UI & graphics are still good, even all these years later.

    Arrived promptly & packaged securely.

"I bought this game to pry my son away from the dreaded Minecraft. It worked! He loves it.

It's a very absorbing game. It's possible to make infinite spore creatures and vehicles etc. It will take ages to get boring. The graphics are cartoonish but nice. The sound effects are fun. It's very funny to see the reaction of your creature to various body parts and colour schemes. You actually want to please it!

It takes hours to complete a full campaign. This genre of game can be...

By: Victoria Trow, on August 7, 2010
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I had never heard of Spore until very recently, so I avoided all the hype. Thus, I had next to no expectations.

The five stages of gameplay are vastly different from each other - there are elements of many other games I've played, the Tribal stage owing a lot to the Age of Empires series - but together they create a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Each has its own fun bits and tedious bits, but I'm an inexperienced gamer (aside from the Sims, which is a different beast...

4 Star Rating Make your creature and then explore
By: WakeyG, on November 2, 2009
    Pros:
    Cons:

"This is our first encounter with Spore Heroes, so can't compare with other games.

However my two boys (aged 6 & 8) love making up new creatures - you can have several saved under each profile - and then taking them out to fight and explore.

They've been wrapped up in this game for weeks - even super mario doesn't get a look in now that Spore Heros Arena has arrived.

I would recommend this for anyone who likes to be creative but still enjoys a battle and...

"Spore was an innovative and interesting game, however after a while players may have found themselves getting bored with reaching space stage and not having much else to do apart repeat themselves. Spore GA gives another huge dimension to an already versatile game and keeps it fresh and fun.

To begin with you may be dissapointed with the amount of pre-made adventures, however they showcase the capablilties of the adventure creator. The adventure creator itself looks rather daunting...

2 Star Rating More than a little dissapointing
By: Owain, on September 30, 2008
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Like many, I bought spore after enjoying the creature creator that was released a couple of months back. Seeing how accessible and fun that was, I decided to give this a go. I have to say though, I'm very, very disappointed. DRM wasn't a good start to it all. Everyone hates the damn thing. Although I doubt I'll even want to install spore more than 3 times anyway, because the actual game sucks.

Sure all the creators are easy and accessible, but everything else is repetitive, boring...

    1 Star Rating Beware DRM
    By: J. Roberts, on September 25, 2008
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I will let you know that i have not brought this game but have witnessed it being played by a friend. However i will not be making a purchase (even though i was really excited when i first saw it) due to the DRM. the DRM technology used within the game installation package is ILLEGAL!!! (in a lot of countries anyway). UK law states that a full disclosure of the software, its intended purpose and what it actually does HAS TO BE CLEARLY DEMONSTRATED TO THE USER at the time of installation or...

1 Star Rating Spore is a bore
By: Mangoman "mn", on September 19, 2008
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Spore must be the most over-hyped, let-down in gaming history.
After literally years of hype, and anticipation over what we were promised would be one of the most innovative games ever, which would change the way we play games forever, I've been left feeling conned.
Even most of the reviewers seem to have been taken in by their own hype, offering high scores in what must be blind justification for the years they've followed the progress of Spore and told us how great it's going to...

    Pros:
    Cons:

"I am new to the whole Spore thing - don't play games on PC. I didn't have any expectations for this game really.

I have only had it 2 days but have been pretty absorbed in it and wracked up quite a few hours play. As I have seen written in other reviews, I would agree that the gameplay is pretty linear - you don't get any feeling that you can do anything original other than what your creature looks like as the game is full of goals that you have to complete before you can move...

    2 Star Rating Underwhelming.
    By: K. A. Belarouci, on September 8, 2008
    Pros:
    Cons:

"The biggest problem with this game is how limited it is compared to what it could be and what I think we were led to believe it would be.

Think about how varied animals are in real life, how many different environments they are adapted to live in, how different they are, their size, their biology, their behaviour, their diet, etc.

Now look at Spore. There is precisely one environment your creature can live in at a given stage, and that's the water in cell stage and the...

1 Star Rating Contains malware, poorly thought out end game, buggy
By: Mr. D. Copeland, on September 6, 2008
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Once reaching the space-age you realise that it is nothing more than a series of minigames, shoot pirates with your ship, do repetitive missions. There are no macromanagement features, you must attend your homeworld every time it is attacked, even if its capable of defending itself without you because they accuse you of not helping. This does not add a challenge, it adds boredom and frustration.

This also contains the malware SecuROM, this limits the installs of the disc to three, if...
