4 Star Rating So far, So good.

"I absolutely loved Tropico 4 so I have been waiting for number 5 to come out with trepidation. I will update my review later if able but after around 4 hours of playing I am quite pleased with Tropico 5. It seems to have a made a natural progression from earlier versions and the game play is a little more complicated with more options and further micro-management options available. I haven't played enough yet to work out if this is a good thing or not but I am quite hopeful.

    There...

"You can't load your saved games. You can not even complete a mission unless you do it in 1 sitting on the xbox version as saved games fail to load and just crash the console. Shame because it is a good game but this makes it unplayable. I contacted support and are aware of the issue but seem to suggest it can't be fixed and that the xbox is not good enough to play it.

    Here is the reply:

Some customers are experiencing issues when trying to load particular savegames of...

    5 Star Rating Modern Tropico!
By: Jelly, on April 11, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Although very similar to it's previous versions, Tropico 4 does have differences which in my opinion makes it a worthwhile purchase

    - Campaign mode follows a storyline rather than random missions - less danger of getting bored halfway through the mode since it's a pretty insane story. You also have to make more interactive decisions that correspond with the story - far better than the same old questions you always get asked in T3!

    - You have more choices to make (e.g...

"Tropico 4 Gold Edition - having started my journey to totalitarian rule back in Tropico 3 I was excited about the potential of Tropico 4.... perhaps I could conquer local islands and start building a force to be reckoned with? Maybe I could manipulate some smaller states to start working for me in exchange for the copious amounts of money and propaganda at my disposal? Perhaps some whole new facet to the game was going to lift this to the next level....

The answer to all of this is...

4 Star Rating Port Royale: looking good and just as fun
By: Mad Geologist, on October 13, 2012
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I've been a big fan of the Port Royale series right through from the first. This is a great addition to the series. It should be noted that Port Royale is not about being a pirate really. Its a trading game with the possibility of piracy later in the game.
As with other games in the series it starts slowly but reaches a point where everything happens to fast. I like the new feature at the start of not being able to build as you actually have to trade rather than build to get started...

    5 Star Rating Great game!
    By: csa27, on May 30, 2012
    Pros:
    Cons:

"This was my first Tropico game and being a Sims fan, this game ticks all the boxes. There is a lot of choice in what crops you can grow to feed your nation and export, as well as a good variety of other ways to generate wealth for your country (rum distillery, cigar factory etc). Complete control of the island is basically yours and you can play in a variety of different modes (Story, Challenge, Freeplay) depending on what you feel like doing. I never read instructions for how to play games so...

3 Star Rating still good, but getting a bit too simple
By: James, on March 29, 2012
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I've enjoyed the Tropico series since the outset a decade or so ago. This expansion is pretty good, and some of the buildings definitely eliminate some of the frustrations from previous incarnations (i.e. farms required far too many people and space; the Eco farm is a perfect replacement). It is a bit minimal for the price, but that's often the case with such things.

The big problem I have with this is that it's just too easy. Tropico 3, its expansion, and the original 4, did have a...

By: The Dude, on October 20, 2011
    Pros:
    Cons:

"For those who haven't played Tropico 3 or earlier versions, a short introduction:

This is a real time strategy/city building game that puts you in control of a small island in the carribean. You will have to make economical as well as political decisions and balance your island around the needs of your population. Everyone belongs to a political party, like the religious or the intellectuals, which have also needs and which can cause you a very hard time if ignored. The people have...

4 Star Rating Really Good Game - Great Price!
    By: Mr. S. J. Leicester, on November 23, 2010
    Pros:
    Cons:

"When you're tired of FPS action, bored of another game of Fifa and can't be bothered to load up another fantasy RPG, it's good to know some studios are still churning out games like Tropico 3.

Blending a mixture of Sim City building juggling, with economic management and political intrigue, I was surprised to see how well this game works with the 360 controller. The menus are easy to navigate, and the shortcuts are simple.

The graphics are gorgeous for a strategy game,...
