By: Joshua Ryan, on February 11, 2014
    Pros:
    Cons:

"When I heard that there was a new Bioshock being released, I was unsure of the premise, with the new entry in the series seemingly abandoning the dark, fascinating world of Rapture in exchange for the bright, flying city of Columbia. Weird, possibly childish concept, but like the equally weird concept of a city full of genetic freaks located at the bottom of the Atlantic, the team behind this has pulled it off apartionally well.

This game has so many things to praise its hard to...

    By: Mr. D, on November 25, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Initially this game seems wonderful, the city of Columbia is portrayed beautifully and a very good deal of care has gone into the architecture and environments. The steampunk, retrofuturist theme is excellently pulled off. Unfortunately, as I progressed through the linear narrative I soon realized that something about the game felt very hollow. The combat quickly becomes a strain - soon I was just spamming my vigors to make the latest horde of George Washingtons and other enemies disappear as soon...

    By: Will Gordon-Lee, on September 26, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"As a long time fan of the bioshock series, I like many fellow gamers was eagerly awaiting the third installment in the series which after being in development for over five years the anticipation was killing people (hopefully not literally). The game itself takes place in the fictional flying city of Columbia in the year 1912 which is ruled over by "The Prophet" Zachary Hale Comstock who is bent on destroying the world below as he sees it as full of sin and not worth saving. The player...

2 Star Rating Promising story let down by mediocre shooter game
By: Olaf Barthel "Harmlos", on June 10, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"This is an old-school first person shooter first, and story-driven game second. By "old-school", I mean the likes of 1993's "Doom". You will spend most of the game running and shooting goons which follow very simplistic tactics (mostly they will run straight at you, shooting). You can only respond with the same simplistic tactics, which quickly becomes tedious. And, no, you cannot avoid combat. The game will not let you move on until you have cleaned your plate, so to speak, even if the goons...

4 Star Rating Fantastic Game Unimpressive Edition
By: SonicKeith, on May 22, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"The game itself is wonderful, fun and very challenging everything you want in a first person shooter. Saying that however i feel that i have wasted money on the special edition as it is not worth it. The DLC that comes with it is very helpful early on but becomes pointless later in the game, the little figurine for a gameboard is pointless and the keychain is interesting, the art book is rubbish and the rest i have forgotten.

Game 5 stars, special edition 3 stars.

3 Star Rating Would have made for a great movie
    By: A Mac, on May 13, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I was initially very impressed by the game and the amazing attention to detail, but it just didn't live up to its hype. The plot and characters of Booker and Elizabeth were great but the game mechanics and choices offered by the game felt very linear and truly limited. This game could have been so much more but instead you feel almost trapped and forced into a single way of playing the game. Exploration of the city does not feel like it is encouraged, except for the collection of a few coins to...

5 Star Rating Rarely review games but this shouts out to be played
By: Orp, on May 1, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"This game is that good I actually played through it twice, something I have only ever done with Bioshock and Fallout:New Vegas.

The story line is excellent, the game play smooth and engaging and the game mechanics are pretty much faultless.

The campaign is rather short if you play on high chaos (kill everything) but on low chaos (play like it's splinter cell) it takes longer and I enjoyed it more and explored much more of the maps. My advise would be to jump straight into...

5 Star Rating Storytelling art at its best.
By: Penny Saver, on April 11, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I've just finished playing this game. Reality doesn't seem quite as stimulating as the journey I've been on over the last few days. Its been a rollercoaster ride. I've certainly played better shooters, though to be fair, there is nothing wrong with the choice of firepower or special powers. Its just that this game isn't really about shooting things. What this game is about, is the story. Quite simply, its the most immersive game I've ever played, by a country mile.

    Now, this makes a...

"... let down by gameplay and level design.

The opening half hour, is stunning - a superb way to open a video game, and introduce an interesting gaming world - and at the start, it's easy to see why this is getting so much hype.

The gun handling is much improved from the first 2 games (in particular, the option to map ADS to the L1 button makes combat much more natural.

The vigours, are uninspired - seeming like unimaginative copies of the plasmids...

    Cons:

"Bioshock Infinite is a strange beast. Whether you are flying around Columbia on it's sky rails, incinerating enemies with the new Vigors or simply taking a late night stroll with Elizabeth through some of the City's more desolate locations...you are constantly aware that you are taking part in something quite extra-ordinary and almost divine in it's narrative.

Maybe the developers wanted the game to slowly burn, at least initially. A mixture of ingredients thrown into the pot and...

3 Star Rating Premium Edition package review

    Pros:
    Cons:

    "
    * This is a review of the Bioshock Infinite Premium Edition (UK) package, not the game itself.

    *What you get:

    - Packaging - disappointing - you get a small box of cheap carton which (depending on shipping) is already crushed on arrival
    - The game - 3 discs - I assume it's the same as the normal edition - quality/print of case/discs is very good
    - Art book - if you were expecting a Bioshock 2 or Diablo 3 type of art book you'd be disappointed - it's a very...

4 Star Rating A huge amount of fun, and redeems the franchise after Far Cry 2
By: A. Whitehead "Werthead", on December 24, 2012
    Pros:
    Cons:

"A group of American tourists in Bangkok are convinced to visit the isolated Rook Islands, a beautiful tropical paradise off the normal tourist track. Unfortunately the islands are also in a state of civil war, with the native Rakyat tribe battling pirates and drug-runners who have taken over the area. The Americans are taken prisoner by the pirates, but Jason Brody manages to escape and find sanctuary amongst the Rakyat. He is trained in the ways of war, but as he seeks out his friends and...

By: Mr. R. Grealy "Rob Grealy", on April 12, 2010
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I absolutely loved the first Bioshock and thought that a sequel set in Rapture, albeit eight years later, was going to be far too similar to the first. Initially, my first reaction to the new game was just that. However, as I played the game and got deeper into it I began to really appreciate the differences made.

Firstly, the weapons are quite different, the most interesting addition perhaps being the drill. There is also the rivet gun and the spear gun. A funky new addition is the...

5 Star Rating Game Of The Year
    By: Stevie G "Stevie G", on September 22, 2007
    Pros:
    Cons:

"The best FPS since Half Life 2, and one of the most original and innovative games Ive ever played.
The location is Rapture, an underwater city, which you stumble across after a plane crash. The game is very freeform, thanks largely to plasmids that become available. These are powers that can improve combat and abilities such as hacking. The context in which these abilities can be acquired make it more believeable than games such as Deus Ex. The depth of abilites is staggering and would...
