    Pros:
    Cons:

"I decided to skip FF13 all together, i played and absolutely loved 12 and could not wait for the release of 13 but i backed off as soon as the reviews came out for the linear gameplay, lack of exploration and dull confusing story. And after watching walkthroughs on youtube i still feel i made the right choice.

FF13-2 however is different, the story is related but not too much that it couldn't be a standalone game. There is a fair bit of explaining what happened in the previous game,...

3 Star Rating Fun, but the Weakest Game in the XIII Series
    By: HyakuShiki1234, on March 20, 2014
    Pros:
    Cons:

"While the consensus is rather against me, I actually really liked Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2. I had fun with Lightning Returns, too, but it has several major flaws that make it a far weaker game than it should be.

Gameplay-wise, the battle system is pretty great. As much as Square may want you to think otherwise, it's actually very similar to XIII and XIII-2. The ability to move Lightning around using the analogue stick is present, but wholly unnecessary as it is far too slow to...

    4 Star Rating Understimated game.
By: Cosimo Massimiliano Russo "Draekke", on March 14, 2014
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Here we go with my first review on Amazon.
First of all, I read so many bad reviews, claiming this game is the third in the worst trilogy ever. False.
This game is what FF XIII and FF XIII-2 should've been since the beginning.
Lightning Returns left back a boring fightning system, where you had to change roles during fight, for a more action-oriented one.
It feels like playing Dissidia sometimes. Lightning is free to run, jump, attack and climb ladders. FF XIII never allowed...

5 Star Rating Give it a go, you may just enjoy it.
By: Mr. J. Marston, on August 29, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Overall I have enjoyed playing FFIV so far, as other players have said it is not the w0w killer, nor is it going to break the mold for originality but it is fun playing. Also for the price of £20 which includes 30 days worth of game time you can make up your own mind whether the game is worth continuing.

Yes the servers were a bit hit and miss the first few days but I'm sure square will have had them fixed asap.

    Give it a go.

"Ok so as of Tuesday 27th August this game is now officially live. it has had issues in early acess but that doesnt affect the now paying public. It has also since undergone a huge maintenance downtime which has now resolved also server full and connection issues.

in short this game is purely great. from the mess it was in version 1.0 this game has truly been reborn.

For anybody new to the MMO/RPG genre this game has a bit of a steep learning curve, i do play games like...

5 Star Rating A game I would treasure for a long time.
By: kallumsmart "Ksmart", on March 29, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I can tell why they made two sequels to it. I thought after Final Fantasy X, There might never be such a game to compare to it because 11 and 12 did not interest me in the slightest but this one is a definite improvement and can tell why they are trying to keep it going for a good while.

If you played sequels but not played this one then seriously try it because this will keep you going for a good few weeks because of how long the story is and it never tends to bores you.

5 Star Rating Another great game for Square Enix
By: Andrew, on March 12, 2013
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I have played many of Square Enix's games especially the Final Fantasy series, all since Final Fantasy 7 (except the online versions) and generally love them all. This one is a great sequel to it's predecessor, that said, my opinion is that this game is so much better than Final Fantasy 13 in many ways, the story is great and really draws you into it and just makes you want to keep playing to find out how it progresses, whilst I felt that FF13 was so very lacking.

    I was happy to see...

5 Star Rating Amazing game, amazing price.
By: Steffan Evans, on February 6, 2013

"Couldn't ask for more. This game absolutely captivated me and took over 200 hours of my life. If you want a game that you can play and play and play without getting bored, then I recommend this. It was £16 when I ordered it, and everything came as described, perfect condition. Couldn't recommend buying this any more.

4 Star Rating Get ready for battle system galore
By: Stampy, on December 31, 2012
    Pros:
    Cons:

    "Final Fantasy XIII

After buying Final Fantasy X last year I was left square eyed with a silly smirk over how much fun and enjoyment I got out of it. The game play is fantastic and the story with intriguing protagonists is the epitome of game playing, and so now wanting more of the same I purchased Final Fantasy XIII and I was left even squarer eyed than before!

Here there are many reviewers showing dislike and praise in equal measure and I suppose this depends on how you look...

saw XIII-2 for a good price and am glad i bought it.

"Okay so I believe if you're reading this, you're familiar with Final Fantasy series, specially Final Fantasy XIII.

I've reviewed the last with a "It was a disappointment" testimonal, although I still liked it in some aspects. A direct sequel was announced and I couldn't stop thinking if it would go any good or not...

It came out, I'm still playing it and since I'm over 24h of play-through, already, I believe I can write my new testimonial: it is brilliant! If you're...

5 Star Rating Overall a tremendous improvement on what came before...
By: Mr. P. J. Pears "Eternal Solar", on February 7, 2012
    Pros:
    Cons:

"It was with no small amount of trepidation that I approached Final Fantasy XIII-2, FFXIII got so much wrong that it was enough (along with the disaster that was Final Fantasy XIV) for Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada to remark that `The Final Fantasy brand has been greatly damaged', no kidding.

See, many of us have grown up with the Final Fantasy brand, we remember the opening of FFIV backed by Nobuo Uematsu's mighty score, Cloud and Aerith in FFVII and of course that laughter scene in...

    4 Star Rating Linearity Complex
By: Technofreak, on November 2, 2011
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Eagerly awaited this as im sure many did however the linear story telling and lack of towns to kick back in left me feeling pushed in one direction, this is not to say that it was not an enjoyable fulfilling experience.

I found myself rushing through the game and in the end still had the starting weapons on some characters I was shocked when the credits started to roll as I felt there should have been more to the game.

The free roaming part of the game about 20 hours in...

4 Star Rating Still a worthy Final Fantasy game, despite its faults
By: Sian, on March 19, 2011
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I really don't understand how people can dismiss this game as `total rubbish'. Sure, it has its faults, but which Final Fantasy game doesn't? It's all subjective.

In my opinion though, the game is great. Yes, it IS very linear for the first ten hours, at least - people who describe it as `follow a straight path, random battles on way, cutscene, boss fight, cutscene, follow a straight path, etc.' aren't wrong there. But the best thing in my opinion about this Final Fantasy is the...

2 Star Rating A bland, repetitive game with good presentation
By: ProM, on July 22, 2010
    Pros:
    Cons:

"This 13th episode delivers, right from the start, incredible production values in the form of costume, weapon and vehicle design, well orchestrated musics, and graphically polished cinematics and menus. Simple tutorials introduce the new combat system to the player step by step, making the game easy to learn for the least experienced gamers, and without being an annoyance to the most experienced.

The innovative combat system makes battles much more dynamic and interesting in general...

3 Star Rating I miss Squaresoft
By: Mr. AD Speechley "THE_ADRENALIN", on July 2, 2010
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I know I shouldnt review a game that I havnt completed but to be honest I dont know how long this is going to take to complete, I can only play it for an hour a time before getting bored and turning it off and thats coming from someone that has sat and played FF 7,8,9 and 10 and lost weeks, probably months doing so, traveling the world exploring, finding secret weapons, doing optional missions, customising your characters and so on and so on. I had pre ordered this along with a few friends (who...

2 Star Rating Did Square forget, games are supposed to be entertaining.
By: Richard Willis "English Guy", on May 5, 2010
    Pros:
    Cons:

"As a fan of RPGs and considering all the hype focused around this game I had to buy it. This game series has been around for many years and I was more than happy when I heard it was coming out on the 360. Then, the day came, I received my copy and I started to play.

    The graphics - great.
The sound and music - Excellent.
The gameplay - Fluid and responsive.
    The story line - Involving.
The overall execution of all of the above - BORING!!! A PERFECT CURE FOR...
