A legendary strategy returns with new life, and blows you away By: Valleysboy, on December 8, 2014 Pros: Cons: "Man alive I love this game! This was a classic strategy game from 1994 (originally UFO:Enemy Unknown). This is a very faithful adaptation that keeps many of the good qualities of the original and improves on it also. There are some downsides, which I won't go into as they may reveal some of the story, but thankfully these were resolved in the expansion pack "XCOM: Enemy Within". I have so far completed this 3 times (2 on PS3, 1 on PC) and keep going back for more. I would... |

Firaxis does it again! By: Daniel Forster "Daniel", on November 25, 2013 Pros: Cons: "If you have played and enjoyed Enemy Unknown, you won't be disappointed with Enemy Within. I completely understand the console players discouragement towards the latest Addon. After purchasing the original game and the DLC, to then buy everything again a year later. But I must say, the content that comes with Enemy Within is worth its £25. They have added an endless amount of maps, I think 46 new maps? So far I've played over 18 hours, encountered the new enemy EXALT. You can send one soldier... |

elite By: kinjoking, on November 20, 2013 Pros: Cons: "was really looking forward to this one, and have to say that the improvements they have made to the game make it much more engaging; +the awarding of service medals with additional perks and the ability to decorate your soldiers with them +MEC units for new and varied tactical battles +reworked levels and 47 new ones some of which are awesome +new enemy types and new weapons to fight them with +new missions extending the gameplay further +new set of... |

Hell yeah By: Ian McIntosh, on November 17, 2013 Pros: Cons: "I can't say enough about this game. Xcom has been a part of my life since the early 90s and now that it's back I'm ecstatic. I spent all day on it yesterday and it does not disappoint! Mimetic skin is awesome and the new mission types are brilliant. I'm off to play it just now. |

Solid Expansion By: JRM, on November 17, 2013 Pros: Cons: "XCOM Enemy Within is the follow-up expansion to the hit revival of the XCOM franchise, Firaxis's 2012 XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It brings new enemy types, new factions, new weapons, Mech troopers, genetic modification, and a whole host of other additions. The good: More maps added to the pools for all types of mission, although perhaps not quite as many as I would have hoped for. There is also some very unique new maps amongst the additions, as well of course the well publicised return of... |

Absorbing, but unforgiving By: Christopher Burns "chrisgb", on October 15, 2012 Pros: Cons: "I was a big fan of the original Microprose XCom release, and keen to see what the 2012 update would bring to the table. As with a lot of games, this is a mixed bag. The tactical RTS side of XCom has been massively face-lifted, and remains a difficult and absorbing sub-game in its own right. Most of the tactical skills from the original are transferable, but there's also been some notable changes. As noted, a lot of the "micro-management" has been removed, and it's not all for the better -... |

XCOM - The Best In Console Strategy Since...X-COM By: Greycut, on October 13, 2012 Pros: Cons: "Hats off to Captain Larry, nickname 'GungHo'. She was amazing. A shotgun surgeon, the vanguard of my squad, charging bravely across war torn cityscapes burnt asunder by alien fire. Her bright pink armour and shock of electric blue hair a bastion of hope to all. Not for the Muton who stomped on her like a bloated, squishy bug obviously; the brutish alien wore her guts like a scarf and preceded to rip through two rookies as if they were made of tissue paper. And years after playing X-Com on my... |

Highly recommend getting a copy of this game and kissing your social life goodbye By: jim_morris31279 "jim_morris3", on October 13, 2012 Pros: Cons: "First of all let me just say - This game is amazing!!! 2K (Edit: Sorry, apparently I should have said Fireaxis, becuase apprently 2K only published the game, and that really matters to a few people out there) have taken aspects of the original X-Com (an absolute classic in its own right) and introduced a more modern feel to it, producing one of the best strategy/action games I've played in years. I'm a massive fan of Turn Based Strategy games, and whilst they aren't everyone's cup of tea, the... |

Best Strategy Game on the Xbox By: Runeweaver, on October 12, 2012 Pros: Cons: "The Xbox has had a few Strategy games on it and most havent been very good, the main problem is the controller. Most Strategy games are ported from the pc and are designed around a mouse and keyboard control scheme, and most fail when changed to console due to the restrictions in the amount of buttons. But X-Com has always been a well designed Strategy game needing only a few controls and is also very easy to learn, the Xbox controller works very well on this updated version of the game... |
