"If you've never seen the movie, by the time you finish with this, you will. Which is what makes the Lego titles so brilliant. They are slaves to the films, by that I mean they use all the actual music and dialogue in the games. What more could you want..apart from seeing your favourite movie hero, cute in the Lego version!?

By: Pedro Rocha, on January 23, 2015
    Pros:
    Cons:

"As adventure games are my favourite, Lego LOTR had stood out as the best in the series for me. A huge overworld to explore with absolutely tons to do. Not to mention the fact that the game was absolutely beautiful.
Story and character wise I prefer the Hobbit, which gave this game a bit of a head start. But T.T. have gone a step further and given this game even more reasons to put it out in front.
Whilst the game only covers the first two movies, make no mistake, it is huge. The over...

"As a fan of Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit , I knew my 7 year old son would love this game. It has been very good fun playing it together . We finished the 16 story missions and bonus level and the game was only 30 something per cent complete . The rest of the game entails unlocking more characters , hunting mithril and red bricks, doing side quests all over middle earth and going back and doing the levels in free play mode to get treasure items, minikits and schematics to build at the...

By: Billy, on October 12, 2014
    Pros:
    Cons:

"This is my first LEGO game I've played where there's a free world. A free world meaning you can just wonder around in Middle Earth without playing an actual story (I believe they did this with the LEGO Lord of the Rings but I haven't played that yet.) You only get to go to the places you see in The Hobbit though, so don't go expecting Rohan, Gondor or Mordor. The screen on the remote was used as a map in this game but not much else.
It's a really fun game, just like every LEGO game is...

Minor quibble up front: The game requires an always online presence to play that and you have to have a steam account in order to play this. This was annoying as steam seemed down more than it was up the first week of purchase. /quibble off

The game itself is nothing short of what you have come to expect from the Lego brand. Immersive game playing, pleny of puzzles and a superior draw to keep playing once the game has finsihed.

"I started playing Lego games with Marvel Superheroes with my girlfriend, that game we played for ages and completed 100%. Since then we've played through LOTR, Batman 2, Pirates and the Lego Movie game all of which we enjoyed despite a few annoying things with each.

The Hobbit game however seems to have taken all of the fun parts and replaced them with the boring/annoying parts from other games.

All the dwarfs are a bit repetitive, most problems seem to be solved by them...

    5 Star Rating Great game
By: Rich, on May 26, 2014
    Pros:
    Cons:

"The Lord of the Rings trilogy is my all time fave Lego game (and I've played most of them) so the bar was set really high for the Hobbit, and although it isn't quite as good as TLOTR it is still a suberb game with some great levels and is much better than the last Lego game I played: `Marvel Avengers.' For me the ONLY way to play the Lego games is in co-op mode as this really brings the titles to life, and its this mode of play that my review is based upon.

    There are however, pros...

3 Star Rating Average game for the lego franchise
By: Jack Brewis, on April 18, 2014
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I have played a lot of lego games over the years and most the the time I really enjoy them however this one just doesn't quite seem to be of the same standards.
The levels of this game aren't as complex and engaging as previous games. Quite often the levels are very short and easy to complete, I don't know whether this is to make them more manageable for younger younger players or something like that because it is just to easy.

I have only had the game for a week and I have...

"I've played every lego game, but the levels on this game are a lot shorter and take no working out or thought, there are elements of the lego movie game on ere ,the building of things to gain extra studs but unlike lego movie are harder to recognise, graphicaly it looks as good as any other lego game,I just feel the game as been rushed to get it out the same time as the second hobbit film,I'm not sure why they didn't wait till all 3 films had been realeased ,looks like gonna have to purchase the...

By: faikeath, on April 16, 2014
    Pros:
    Cons:

"I don't know where to begin really but having played this game through on story mode I found it pretty frustrating and dull, gone are all the fun puzzles from previous Lego games to be replaced with grinding in the form of having to collect resources to built items. There's no skill required for this compared to the older games where a puzzle would require some thinking about how to approach a problem and complete it. They've tried to innovate and come up with new ideas to extend game-play...

By: Ell, on April 14, 2014
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Looks stunning. No crashes so far but a few areas with clipping problems. Slightly more (v easy) puzzle based rather than pixel perfect hoppy skippy jump jump thank goodness. I was initially disappointed -partly because as with the Lego Lord of the rings it is based on the films not the books & there seemed to be an odd combat system but once I started to be able to distinguish one dwarf from another and adjusted to the combat (which I came to realize takes the proverbial out of some...

By: Quinn, on April 12, 2014
    Pros:

"Like all the Lego games this is full of fun and silliness. There's a good variety of levels, from fighting orcs to racing a rabbit-drawn sled, and there's a huge selection of characters including Bilbo, Gandalf, Legolas and the many, many dwarves. You play through the events of first two Hobbit films (An Unexpected Journey & The Desolation of Smaug) with lots of mini quests and collectibles to keep you busy. This game is perfect for all ages - you can play solo or team up with a friend although...

    Cons:

"This is just a warning to potential buyers who aren't already geared up with a game controller for their pc. I can't really comment on the game itself as I'm only a few levels into it, though I'm enjoying it immensely as it's delightfully off-the-wall in a non-threatening kind of way.

Not having played video games since 'Tomb Raider' (oh how that ages me!), I couldn't resist buying this Lego LOTR game for my Windows Vista laptop. Alas, on installing it, I found that the Read Me file...

4 Star Rating Enjoyable game but have we not seen this all before from lego ?
By: Mr. Timothy D. James, on December 7, 2012
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Lets get through a couple of the positives - this is a fun game which provides the usual lego slapstick comedy and keeps you playing.

However I have to agree with other reviews which state the story is very disjointed, jumps from one scene to another and the graphics are what I saw on a psp about 5 yrs ago when Lego Star Wars games were being pumped out. With the Vita's power surely they can be coming up with more enterprising concepts ? My problem with the lego games is that they...

    By: S. A. Rutter, on November 25, 2012
    Pros:
    Cons:

"Lego Lord Of The Rings, is quite simply the stand out of all Lego games to date. Not just for the fact that, they've chosen a huge name 'Lord Of The Rings' which in its own right, is a huge success through books and the films.. But it expands everything Lego has done so far to another level. Not just the open world aspect which they implemented into the 'Lego Batman' but they've also added RPG elements that fit perfectly well with the Lord Of The Rings story. It's not 'Skyrim' or any other game...
